Two finals in two countries gave polo fans plenty to enjoy over the last two weekends. Here is our round-up of the women’s Argentine Open and the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship.

La Dolfina take the Women’s Open

On Saturday 6 December in Palermo, La Dolfina beat El Overo Z7 UAE Polo 9-4 in the final of the ninth Argentine Women’s Open. It was an unbeaten tournament for the winners and a fifth title in the competition. Mia Cambiaso was named Most Valuable Player for the final after scoring four goals. Hope Arellano added three, including a penalty, and Hazel Jackson scored four for UAE Polo.

  • La Dolfina: Hope Arellano (10), Catalina Lavinia (8), Mia Cambiaso (9) and Milly Hine (9)
  • El Overo Z7 UAE Polo: Hazel Jackson (10), Candelaria Fernández Araujo (10), Carina Clarkin (9) and Maitena Marré (7)

El Overo Z7 UAE Polo, the defending champions, had won the league match against La Hache Pax 9-7 on 3 December to reach the final. Earlier, La Dolfina had beaten La Hache Pax 18-10 and El Overo Z7 UAE Polo 11-7. It makes a very good year for Mia Cambiaso, who also won the Gold Cup at Cowdray with her father in July.

Stahl Polo in Los Angeles

On Saturday 13 December, the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship was decided at the Equidome at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, hosted by the California Polo Club. Stahl Polo, with Jared Sheldon (8), Ian Schnoebelen (4) and Rémy du Celliee Müller (4), beat Bush League 15-12 in the Open final and finished undefeated. Schnoebelen was named MVP after scoring seven goals in the final.

  • U.S. Arena Handicap Final: Mars Equestrian x Work to Ride beat Houston Polo 13-12 in overtime. Patrick Uretz was MVP.
  • Consolation Final: Beverly Hills Pony Express beat Buchalter 24-10.

Bush League, who had been undefeated in bracket play, were Pelon Escapite, Quinn Kyle and Jason Crowder. It is the second major arena title for Sheldon this autumn, after he helped the USA win the world championship in Virginia in October.

Looking ahead

England’s final international of the year takes place at Plettenberg Bay in South Africa on 29 December, and the Bryan Morrison Trophy at Hickstead on 17 January 2026 will see England host the USA. We will have more on both soon.
