Nacho Figueras Lead his Team to Victory at The Veuve Clicqout Polo Classic
The annual star-studded Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event in New York took place this weekend with Clive Owen taking a break from filming his upcoming movie “Blood Ties”, to co-host the event. Other celebrity A-listers included, amongst others, Minka Kelly, Zoe Saldana, Rachek Zoe, and Padma Lakshmi.
Due to renovation of the Governors Island the fifth annual Polo Classic was played at Liberty State Park with views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan.
Black Watch, captained by the ‘always competitive’ Nacho Figueras, won 9-7 against Nespresso.
England’s Leading Polo Clubs to form their own Premier League
The FT recently reported that eight of the leading Polo clubs in England will form their own Premier League, funded entirely by sponsorship. The clubs will play each other home and away in two groups of four, and then play a final in August to decide the champion.
Seven clubs have already been confirmed:
- Guards Polo Club
- Ham Polo Club
- Beaufort Polo Club
- Cirencester Park
- Cowdray Park
- Kirtlington Park
- Royal County of Berkshire Club
